Beauty Looks Like—Johnette Karpeh

Johnette Karpeh HeaderMeet Johnette Karpeh, Human Resources Selection & Assessment Consultant, whose passion and purpose is service. As a child, Johnette watched her parents serve in the community, which influenced her to follow the same path. She is truly fulfilled when she can make a positive impact in the lives of others.

We invited Johnette to take us through her personal journey in discovering “Beauty looks like ME!”

What does beauty look like to you? Beauty is what you see when you look at your reflection in the mirror. Beauty is confidence and being content just the way you are.

Johnette Karpeh QuoteTell us your journey to seeing beauty within yourself: I initially recognized beauty within myself through the love and encouragement of my family. Growing up I was surrounded by so many shades of beautiful women who taught me that real beauty comes from within. Although I had all of this positive reinforcement, at times I still would question my beauty because of my insecurities. I recall once as a teenager looking in the mirror and wondering what was so beautiful about me? What was I missing? As I matured as a young lady and grew in my relationship with God, I discovered I was missing confidence. Once I developed confidence, I was able to see beauty, both internal and external.

What would you tell your 15-year-old self about what beauty looks like: I would tell 15 year old Johnette that beauty is more than what you see in the mirror. Beauty is confidence and being content with yourself. There is nothing wrong with wanting to look good, but do not be so focused on your exterior and forget about the importance of what is within. That is where real beauty starts. Be confident in who you are and what God created. Understand that he uniquely designed you in a specific way for his purpose. Once you discover your identity in your relationship with God, you will see yourself as he sees you, a beautiful masterpiece
